*If you are born in January or in the beginning of February, your zodiac animal may fall under the year previous to the year you were actually born. (For example, anyone born prior to January 28th this year would fall under the star sign of the Monkey, but those born after the 28th of January this year would be Roosters!)

Our Tsum Tsum mascot for the Year of the Rooster is none other than Heihei from the new Disney Animated Feature, Moana! We took a trip down to Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort to experience some of the fun Lunar New Year events that are taking place in the park in honor of the start of the New Year.

There were performers to see, crafts to create, characters to meet, items to purchase and delicious traditional Asian goodies to try. One of the highlights of the Lunar New Year celebration is the fireworks addition to the park’s nighttime water show, World of Color! The celebration continues at the Disneyland Resort through February 5th of this year, so it’s not too late to check it out!

If you were born in the Year of the Rooster (2017, 2005, 1993, 1981 or 1969), you are said to love attention and to be quite funny… and even occasionally annoying! This sounds just like our friend, Heihei! However, back in ancient times when the Chinese calendar was first created, roosters were held in high regard by the Chinese people. In that era, roosters were not only utilized as food, but they were also seen as a good luck charm as they were known to gobble up dangerous and destructive insects. Consider yourself lucky if you happen to fall under the star sign of the Rooster!
