What Disney Movie Should Inspire the Next Tsum Tsum Set?
Over the years, Disney has created many beloved characters. From book-worm princesses to trumpet playing alligators, there have been so many cute, dynamic and just plain lovable characters to get to know!
Many of these characters have had the chance to be transformed into all different types of Tsum Tsum’s. Unfortunately, many popular Disney characters are still awaiting their Tsum Tsum spotlight!
Here are eight Disney movies that I think should be created into Tsum Tsum sets!
Hercules, which was released in 1997, was a movie based on classic Greek mythology. The popular animated film featured catchy songs, an easy to follow plot and unforgettable characters!
If Disney were to release a Hercules Tsum Tsum set, some of the must have characters would be:
- Hercules (of course)
- . . . and Panic.
These 7 characters could easily be expanded on. There are also the colorful Greek Gods and Goddesses featured at the beginning and end of the movie such as Hermes and Zeus. Another few characters that would be interesting to see released together would be the three fates, maybe released as a Halloween set, and of course the Muses in all their sassy glory.
Phew! Now that I’m thinking about it, maybe there aren’t Hercules Tsum Tsums yet because there are too many to choose from!
The next Disney characters that are yet to be released as Tsum Tsums are the characters from Mulan!
Mulan was released in 1998 and followed a daring adventure of a brave young woman. Mulan inspired so many people with her bravery and as Disney’s first princess of a Chinese descent.
I already know you’re imagining how great she would look as a Tsum Tsum and the thing is, there could be two different versions of her. There could be a Mulan made up after meeting the matchmaker with her hair pinned back by her flower clip. An interesting detail would be to incorporate who Mulan sees herself as by only having half of her face done up, and the other half as she has it after flawlessly taking her makeup off in one swipe during the song, Reflection.
Another version of Mulan that could exist would be her pretending to be Ping as we see her through most of the movie. She could even have a little sword detail on her side just like the Star Wars Tsum Tsums have light sabers.
Moving on from Mulan, some of her friends could include:
- Li Shang
- . . .and we cant forget Cri-Kee!
3. Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins is a live-action musical that was released in 1964. Although the classic was a live-action film, I believe that the costumes alone are a reason to translate this crowd pleaser into collectible stacks of cuteness.
The first character I would love to see is Mary Poppins herself, with her floral hat and bird umbrella. The details in the hat could resemble the flowers embroidered into Rapunzel’s hair, and her bright coat would add a pop of color to any stack of Tsums. I would also like to see another version of Mary where she’s wearing the outfit she wears while singing supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. That beautiful cream dress with the red sash would allow for lacy details, and a beautifully old-fashioned hat.
More characters could be Bert in his chimney sweep outfit complete with a chimney sweeper as well as him in his striped suit. Then of course would come the children, Jane and Michael in their fancy outfits ready to race carousel horses to the finish line!
Additional characters could be some of the people and animals that they meet on their magical adventure such as the dancing penguins!
I think these would be lovely Tsum Tsums as their outfits would look great with anywhere from little to loads of detail, and their cute little faces would brighten up anyone’s day!
Pocahontas was released in 1995 to welcome us into a world of beautifully animated nature, and to teach us the value of each life.
There are many characters in Disney’s Pocahontas that would make adorable Tsum Tsums. One of them would be Pocahontas herself wearing her mothers necklace with colored leaves caught in her hair.
Next would be her animal friends, Meeko the raccoon and Flit the hummingbird. Meeko would make an adorably mischievous Tsum Tsum with Flit following closely behind with his bright multi-coloured wings.
Another main character is the portrayed love interest of Pocahontas, John Smith. John Smith would be equipped with his helmet with his long hair flowing from it.
Additional characters could include Grandmother Willow, Governor Ratcliffe and Percy the pug.
5. The Fox and the Hound
The Fox and the Hound was released in 1981 and would begin to break the hearts of thousands with that one scene you’re all now thinking of. Despite hurting me every time I watch it, the Fox and the Hound is one of those movies that has characters you feel like you grow up with. Seeing Tod and Copper grow is something that forms a strong connection between you and the characters.
When characters have such a deep effect on an audience, it’s best to give the audience what they want, and what this audience wants are Fox and the Hound Tsum Tsums! Imagine having your own tiny little Tod, and a small howling Copper that can be friends forever in your Tsum Tsum collection.
Other characters could include Big Mama the owl, Chief, and of course the dynamic duo, Dinky and Boomer as well as the little caterpillar they can never seem to catch.
Brave was a Pixar/Disney movie released in 2012. Unlike many of the other newer movies, the characters have not yet been made into Tsum Tsums.
Brave teaches us to follow our own path and to trust our hearts and our families.
Merida’s hair is beautiful but might be difficult to translate to a plush character. I think it would turn out nicely if they structured her hair like they did with the bottom half of Aurora’s (Sleeping Beauty’s) hair, but with more curl details.
Other characters to include would be Queen Elinor, King Fergus, The Witch and Hamish, Hubert and Harris in both their bear and human forms.
7. The Incredibles
In 2004, Pixar and Disney released a movie about a family with superpowers that quickly became a favorite of many.
Although the outfits of the Tsum Tsums would be similar, different versions of them could be released. An example of this would be releasing two different plush Violets, one in the normal costume, and one in white to show that she’s invisible. Another cool thing about The Incredibles being Tsum Tsums is the accessories they could have if they were in Mystery Stack Packs. Sticking with Violet, she could have a force field around her while Jack-Jack could come with a flame.
To include the rest of the family, there would be Tsum Tsums of Elastigirl, Dash, Mr. Incredible, and Jack-Jack. This doesn’t have to stay in family though as the set could also include Frozone, Syndrome, and the ever fabulous Edna Mode.
8. The Princess and the Frog
In 2009, the world was introduced to the first African-American Disney princess named Tiana and her adventure in making her dream of owning a restaurant come true. She overcomes barriers and solves problems with determination and confidence.
Many creative and interesting characters were brought into the light but most of them are yet to be Tsum Tsums. I say most because Dr. Facilier, the villain in the Princess and the Frog was part of the villain set released last year. So we have the antagonist but no other characters yet.
I would love to see a Tiana, both in her blue dress and in the outfit she wears when she sings Almost There. A possibility would be her frog form as well as the frog form of Prince Naveen.
To complete the set, I would like to see Louis with his trumpet, Ray, Mama Odie, and Charlotte.
